Amiens is a town in the north of France, Picardie. It was (and is) an important industrial city especially in textile.

A lot of people from this region came to Leiden.

First photo (wikipedia) The Belfry (le Beffroi) was a prison in the 16th and 17th centuries. Some Protestants were imprisoned here. Religious processions filed down this street toward the Cathedral.
